Ratingen/München Hünnebeck by BrandSafway is presenting an expanded product and service portfolio for infrastructure construction at this year’s bauma. New fields of application for the modular Infra-Kit system and greater bridge construction expertise further enhance productivity and safety in infrastructure projects.
« The need for new infrastructure or basic renovation of existing structures is high in many markets and will remain so in the medium term. There is great growth potential here, which we have systematically addressed. Especially in the last few years, we have completed many major international projects together with our customers, » explains Brian Keating, head of the Infrastructure Construction Europe and Latin America business unit.
Infra Kit: A modular system for all applications
Hünnebeck has continued to develop and enhance the innovative modular Infra-Kit system over the past few years, especially for new construction and for the renovation of infrastructure structures. The fundamental concept is to create customised formwork and support solutions for bridge construction, tunnelling and structural engineering using only a small number of load-optimised system components such as beams, load-bearing frames, walers and spindles. The advantages of the modular principle: less planning effort, simple assembly, manageable logistics. The result: The customer saves time and money, while increasing productivity.
In order to meet all requirements of infrastructure construction and especially bridge construction, the Infra-Kit system is now available in three versions: Infra-Kit L (Light) and M (Medium) are ideal for lighter and medium-weight applications, while Infra-Kit H is used to transfer the heaviest loads. All three load classes have beams in different lengths and can be combined with one another. Numerous connections for adapters and infill connectors allow articulated or rigid connections as required. This means that a vast range of forms can be produced and then easily assembled and used with the aid of plug connectors and captive centering bars.
Every Infra-Kit application is planned technically and logistically by the Europe-wide Infrastructure Competence Centre. “This is where we have pooled our many years of expertise, allowing us to support our customers with customized best-practice solutions right from the tendering phase. Our experienced specialists deal quickly and comprehensively, even with complex requirements. In addition, we can also offer pre-assembly services through affiliated companies in the BrandSafway group, » says Brian Keating.
Time saving when forming parapets
A new application based on the Infra-Kit modular system is the parapet traveller that Hünnebeck has developed especially for the frequently requested forming or renovation of bridge edges. The variable-use application does not require tying to the structure and, thanks to its modular design, is not only suitable for any bridge length and radius, but even for bridges with strong longitudinal and transverse inclines. Here, too, the system’s modular design significantly eases technical planning and applicability – even for technically demanding tasks. The basic formwork traveller is equipped with heavy-duty castors for quick repositioning, formwork tailored to requirements and edge protection – depending on the application – from the Protecto or Modex systems.
Comprehensive bridge construction expertise from a single source
The strategic partnership with the Norwegian bridge construction specialist Strukturas further enhances Hünnebeck’s role in the infrastructure sector. The aim of this partnership is to offer customers a comprehensive portfolio for complex bridge construction projects from a single source. Strukturas brings to the partnership its many years of expertise in mobile scaffold systems and in the planning, supply and assembly of form travellers. Hünnebeck designs and supplies formwork systems for pilasters, abutments, trough structures and parapets, shoring systems for transferring heavy loads as well as safety and height access technology.

This is because all inquiries are handled via Hünnebeck as the central contact. « Particularly in major infrastructure projects, fewer interfaces improve efficiency in project execution, which ultimately leads to faster construction times and lower overall costs. » Only recently, the successful partnership was extended to other countries and now includes – in addition to Germany – Poland, Romania, Austria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Italy, Macedonia, Montenegro, Switzerland and Serbia.
