Ratingen/München In keeping with the trade fair booth motto of “Increased productivity, greater safety”, Hünnebeck by BrandSafway is presenting the latest development of the modular Protecto edge protection system at this year’s bauma: a newly developed mesh panel and innovative compression post that ensure even quicker assembly and greater variability in design.

Lightweight and strong

The new Protecto G2 mesh panel with integrated toe board is visually striking – primarily due to its rounded edges and differently sized mesh spacing, as the curves reduce the potential risk of injury, further increasing the safety of the system. The greatest possible mesh spacing means higher productivity in the work area while maintaining safety as the larger spaces in the mesh make it easier to safely pass through required materials.

The hot-dip galvanized 1.15 m high mesh panel is available in four widths (120 cm, 180 cm, 240 cm, 270 cm), which can also be mounted overlapping on the sides. They can be erected without tools to create fall protection of various heights, right up to full enclosures. The system thus offers all freedom in the formation of a customized fall protection system. Like its predecessor model Protecto G1, the new generation of grid also meets the requirements of DIN EN 13374 – Class A.

Fast, intuitive assembly

In combination with the new height-adjustable PROTECTO Post 130 Adjustable, which also complies with the requirements of DIN EN 13374 – Class A, assembly of the Protecto G2 fall protection is particularly quick and intuitive. The post is compatible with all Protecto clamps and brackets, such as the screw base joint, staircase bracket, timber beam connector and fixing device for clamp. The new mesh panel is simply hooked onto the post using a spring lock and is automatically secured against unintentional liftoff. A visual indicator clearly shows proper assembly, so that even inexperienced users can work with it without any problems – a significant improvement in terms of safety. These simple mechanics and the wide post spacing of 2.70 m result in an assembly time of only 8.1 m/min (own measurements), which makes the system much more efficient than traditional systems secured with screws.

The system is supplemented by a compression post, which can be used for heights between 2 m and 4.30 m. It is clamped between the slab and floor without tools. A tension indicator confirms correct assembly. Here, too, simple and intuitive assembly leads to increased productivity.

Of course, this also and especially applies to our Protecto edge protection system, which can be installed even more conveniently with the new mesh panel and post,” says Hünnebeck safety expert Brian Keating, summing up the advantages of the latest Protecto developments.
